Best Vegas Roofer is a referral service, not a roofing contractor. We connect you with independent local roofing contractors who perform the work under their own licence and insurance. We do not perform roofing work and we do not warrant or guarantee any work performed. There is no charge to be matched.
Siding and roofing sit in the same Nevada licence classification for a reason: they are both about keeping weather out of the building envelope, and they meet at details that leak when either is done badly.
Most valley homes are stucco, but siding appears widely on gables, dormers, accent walls, second storeys, additions and detached structures. Wherever it appears it takes the same ultraviolet load the roof does, and it ages accordingly.

How siding fails in this climate
Siding here rarely rots. It fades, it moves and it goes brittle, and the failures follow from that:
- Severe fading and chalking on south and west facing elevations
- Cracking and splitting as material dries and ultraviolet exposure embrittles it
- Warping, buckling or waviness from repeated thermal expansion and contraction
- Failed caulking at joints, corners, windows and trim, which is where water actually gets in
- Loose or backed-out fasteners after years of thermal cycling
- Damage at the roof-to-wall junction, where siding, flashing and roofing all meet
- Wind damage to panels and trim during monsoon cells
The roof-to-wall junction is where it matters
Where a roof meets a wall, the siding, the flashing and the roof covering have to work as one assembly. Water running down a wall has to be directed out onto the roof surface, not behind it.
This detail is a common leak source and it is frequently blamed on the roof when the actual fault is siding or flashing above it. A contractor who works across both is better placed to diagnose it than one who only does one.
Repair or replace
Isolated damage on an otherwise sound elevation is usually a repair, with the important caveat that matching weathered siding is difficult. Material that has faded for a decade will not match new stock, so a repair can be functionally perfect and visually obvious.
Where the failure is widespread, where caulking has gone everywhere at once, or where you are already painting, replacement of a full elevation often makes better sense than patching it.
Who actually does the work
An independent roofing contractor, working under their own Nevada licence and insurance, not Best Vegas Roofer. They inspect your roof, quote you directly, and warrant their own work. Roofing in Nevada falls under contractor licence classification C-15, Roofing and Siding, issued by the Nevada State Contractors Board. (Nevada State Contractors Board, License Classifications)
Before work starts, check them yourself. The Nevada State Contractors Board publishes a free public licence search, so you can confirm a contractor is licensed, check the classification they hold and see their licence status before any work starts. Frequently asked questions
Is siding work covered by a roofing licence in Nevada?
Nevada classification C-15 covers Roofing and Siding, with C-15b covering siding specifically. Verify the classification a contractor actually holds on the free state board licence search before work starts.
Will new siding match my existing siding?
Rarely exactly. Mojave sun fades siding significantly, so new material against a weathered elevation usually shows. Ask the contractor what they can source and consider doing a full elevation if appearance matters.
My siding looks fine but I have a leak on that wall. Why?
Because siding sheds most water but the actual weather barrier is behind it, along with the flashing at windows, roof junctions and penetrations. A leak with intact-looking siding usually points at flashing or caulking rather than the panels.
How often does caulking need redoing?
More often here than in milder climates, because ultraviolet exposure and thermal movement work against it constantly. It is worth checking annually, and it is cheap compared with what it prevents.
